Our furry, feline companions

Our cats are pretty darn cute, which even visitors declare when they see our two males wander into the room. Leo is our youngest, and if you'd like to see pictures of him when he was really little, click on his page. For current photos, visit the cats page. For the photo tribute to Yuri's first birthday, you're in the right place.

Yuri Shastikovich Paine

Unusual name, you say? Well, it's Russian. We adopted him after Nate returned from his round-the-world trip, during which he spent a lot of time in Ukraine and Russia. I guess the culture rubbed off a little... but hey, we both thought it was a cool name. It suits him.

In May of 2007 we created a photo collage to commemorate his first birthday. It shows off his personality pretty well.

August 2006

Yeah, I think I could live here.

Am I in it??

September

Flea baths are so embarassing... I told them not to put this picture in!

It's a guys' night.

That dude and I were just playing Mancala. I beat him, but he claims I ate some of his pebbles. As if I need to resort to cheating...

Teddy likes it when
I sleep with him.

November

Finally something to climb!

Making friends with the new girl.

I don't know what "unseasonably warm" means, but I like having the window open!
How nice of that girl to bring a whole bed for me to sleep on!
I'm sad... No open window today!
Gotta stay warm
on those chilly fall nights!

I'm supervising the work here. So far so good.

I'm not sure what
this thing is, but
I got dibs!

Teddy asked me to sit with him.
This is surprisingly comfortable.
Can I help you?

December

Looks like a good hiding spot to me.

Bummer...nothing to chew in here.
I own all the trees in this house.

January

Thay talked me into doing a close-up. This was right before that dude cut off my ear hair.

February

Relaxing in the sink. What's strange about that?

Playing with feather just wears me out! Thankfully I was in a good spot for a nap.

Can't say that I'm a fan of this white stuff!

It gets so chilly here in the winter! A cat needs some extra warmth.

March

Doh, you caught me! Okay, okay, I admit, I have a sink fetish. So sue me.

Just call me
Jungle Cat.

I said no pictures!

The paparazzi is after me all the time...

This posture is really good for my back.

April

Sometimes this guy just needs a hug.

The key to happiness is knowing how to relax!

May

Here, birdie birdie...

I don't know what this thing is, but I'm pretty sure it's not a cat...

Just because I'm one year old now doesn't mean I know everything!
