Flower beds...A work in progress!
Here in northeastern Pennsylvania, our soil is anything but fertile. It's clay and filled with stones. Even with compost worked into the soil, it was hard to get flowers to grow in our beds this past summer. To compound the problem, our chickens ate anything that actually did grow. So we have our work cut out for us this year!

The front bed was mostly empty.

This bed was filled with tiny vein-like roots, which were extremely hard to dig out.

The side bed with miniature rock wall.

Beds around the barn didn't have much color.

Plants from friends allowed us to fill up the side bed, only to have the chickens eat everything.

A hydrangea and a Phlox tried to grow in the rocky soil, but looked poor by the end of the summer.

These sunflowers were choked out by weeds.

When all else fails, just plant some flowers in a pot!
"The Father loves his Son, and he has given him authority over everything. And all who believe in God's Son have eternal life." John 3:36
