Visit to Fordhook Farm

Sep 30, 06:42 PM

We’ve been exposing Silas to more cultural experiences these last few months as he grows older and more interested in the world around him. In early September we took him to the local Oyster Picnic at the Old Goshenhoppen Church up the road. (Click the link to see the Inquirer story about it.) He didn’t eat any oysters, but he enjoyed the live music and the cheerful atmosphere.

This past weekend we went to the Autumn Garden Tour at Fordhook Farm in Doylestown. You may be familiar with Burpee, one of the largest seed companies in the country. They own Fordhook Farm and the beautiful gardens that occupy the property. There’s an old but well-maintained stone building where the founder, W. Atlee Burpee, lived with his family. And many country gardens and statues to peruse. Silas enjoyed the time outside despite the chill and the strong breeze. (Hopefully he won’t mind the change of seasons since it seems like fall is definitely here!)
